Wayne Community College to host naturalization ceremony
Individuals can be honored with a flag in the Goldsboro Rotary Club Field of Honor.
Wayne Community College is hosting a Naturalization Ceremony on Friday, August 25, at 10 a.m. in Moffatt Auditorium in the Wayne Learning Center on the college’s main campus in Goldsboro.
The event will be conducted by The United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for an anticipated 90 applicants. Robert T. Numbers, II, United States magistrate judge, will administer the Oath of Allegiance and present the candidates their certificates of naturalization, completing the process of becoming a U.S. citizen.
Dr. Patricia Pfeiffer, the college’s president, will provide the welcome and introductory remarks. Renita Allen Dawson, Vice President of Workforce Continuing Education Services and Community Engagement, will perform the national anthem. Alex Pavon-Valencia, former WCC student and current Wayne County employee, will provide the keynote address. Marques Anderson, USCIS immigration officer, will emcee the event and announce the Call of Countries.
The Wayne County Board of Elections will be set up in the Atrium outside of Moffatt Auditorium to register voters from 10 a.m. to noon.
Citizenship candidates have been pre-selected and notified for this ceremony. Persons with questions about their naturalization status should contact the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services directly.

The event is open to the public to observe.
