University of Mount Olive honors staffer with Outstanding Contribution to Campus Life Award

MOUNT OLIVE —The University of Mount Olive (UMO) recently recognized Nicole Balsamello, Director of Admissions, as the recipient of the 2024 Outstanding Contribution to Campus Life Award. The prestigious accolade is presented annually to a faculty or staff member who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to enhancing the campus experience for students through exemplary service and innovative programming.

Balsamello has been an integral part of the UMO community for over eight years, leaving an indelible mark on the campus landscape. Her commitment to shaping the student body and fostering a welcoming environment is unparalleled. Balsamello’s contributions extend across various initiatives, including extensive coordination of Open House Events and Trojan First programs.\

“Nicole is often the first smiling face to greet students and their families, embodying the Trojan spirit and creating lasting impressions,” said Dr. Dan Sullivan, Vice President for Student Affairs and presenter of the award. “Nicole’s impact on our campus is immeasurable. Her selfless dedication and positive attitude have enriched the lives of countless students, faculty, and staff members. We are thrilled to honor her with this well-deserved award.”

Balsamello resides in Mount Olive with her husband, Justin Potter, who is the UMO Associate Head Coach of Track & Field, and their son, Carson Potter.
