Wayne Community College’s Military Business Center helps secure millions in federal contracts

GOLDSBORO – The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) at Wayne Community College has helped in awarding $115,796,725.31 in federal contracting for fiscal year 2023 in Wayne County.
The NCMBC is a business development entity of the NC Community College System and is part of the Workforce Continuing Education Services division at WCC. Its goal is to leverage military and other federal business opportunities to expand the economy and improve the quality of life in NC.
WCC Military Business Center Regional Program Manager Bill Simons identifies federal contracting opportunities for businesses in the state. Simons connects government contracts with businesses in Wayne County, which contributed to over $115 million awarded from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and other small federal agencies in the county.
“Seymour Johnson Air Force Base is awarding a lot of money to businesses that generate revenue and improve the quality of life for people who live and work in Wayne County because a lot of that money stays in Wayne County,” Simons explained.
“If a company is awarded a contract and I helped them connect with the government, that’s a win for Wayne Community College and the North Carolina Military Business Center,” he said.
