Summer Reading Program registration open

WAYNE COUNTY — Registration is open for the Wayne County Public Library Summer Reading Program. The program will run from June 12 through July 28.

This year’s theme for the Summer Reading Program is “All Together Now: Camp Kindness.”  The library strives to offer fun, high quality programming each summer to keep children engaged in learning. In addition to weekly story times for children, there will be a series of special performers visiting throughout the summer. Programs for all ages are planned as well. Library staff can’t wait for everyone to see all the fun activities they have planned.

At Steele Memorial Library in Mount Olive, programs for children ages birth to 5 will be held Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. Programs for children from Kindergarten through fifth grade and their parents will be held Thursdays at 1 p.m.

At the Goldsboro Library, a garden program will be held for children from Kindergarten through fifth grade Mondays at 9:30 a.m. A STEAM program for children from Kindergarten through fifth grade will be held Mondays at 4 p.m.

On Tuesdays in Goldsboro, a Teen Hangout program for middle and high schoolers and their parents will be held Tuesdays at 4 p.m.

In Goldsboro on Wednesdays, Baby and Me for children birth to age 2 and their parents will be held at 9:30 a.m., StoryStop for children ages 3 through Pre-K at 10:30 a.m. and programs for Kindergarten through fifth grade and their parents will be held at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.

On Thursdays in Goldsboro, child care centers will be open by appointment only at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.

In Pikeville, programs for children newborn to age 4 and their parents will be held Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and programs for children ages 5-12 and their parents Thursdays at the Charles B. Aycock birthplace at 10 a.m.

Summer Learning at the Cliffs will be held Tuesdays from June 13 to July 18 except for July 4 Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. for children Kindergarten through fifth grade and their parents at Cliffs of the Neuse State Park.

Local magician Dana Hill will perform Thursday, June 15 at the Pikeville Library at 10 a.m., at Steele Memorial Library at 1 p.m. and at the Goldsboro Library at 3 p.m. This program is for children from Kindergarten through fifth grade with a parent or caregiver.

Staff from the Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium will present a program on local sea life Thursday, June 29 at the Pikeville Library at 10 a.m., at Steele Memorial Library at 1 p.m. and at the Goldsboro Library at 3 p.m. This program is for children from Kindergarten through fifth grade with a parent or caregiver.

Movie Day will be held Thursday, July 6 at 1 p.m. at Steele Memorial Library and at 3 p.m. at the Pikeville Library.
