Small business seminars continue in summer

GOLDSBORO — The Small Business Center at Wayne Community College continues to provide learning opportunities for aspiring and progressing entrepreneurs in summer. It has scheduled more than three dozen no-cost online and in-person seminars over the next few months.

The seminars offered in May will be Business of Farming: Site Analysis and Exploring Your Agritourism Potential – 6-8 p.m., May 17; Discovering Your Unique Position – 6-8 p.m., May 17; Building Leadership Capacity for Small Business Owners – noon-2 p.m., May 18; How to Build Good Bookkeeping Habits, 2-5 p.m., May 22; QuickBooks Essentials – 6-9 p.m., May 22; The Keys to a Winning Small Business Plan – 6-8 p.m., May 24; Business of Farming: Legal Structures and Agritourism Framework for Your Farm – 6-8 p.m., May 24; Basics of Small Business Finances – noon-2 p.m., May 30; Business of Farming: Financial Planning for Your Agricultural Business – 6-8 p.m., May 31 and OSHA General Overview – 6-8 p.m., May 31.

June seminars are Writing a Business Plan – noon-2 p.m., June 6; Business of Farming: Maximizing Your Profits and “Belt-Tightening” – 6-8 p.m., June 7; Finding the Money for Your Small Business – 6-8 p.m., June 7; How to Increase Your Credit Score to Over 740 Points; Prepare for a Bank Business Loan – 4-6 p.m., June 12; Business of Farming: Understanding Your Market and Customers for Your Farm Business – 6-8 p.m., June 14; Charting a Path to Success for Your Small Business – 6-8 p.m., June 14; Quickbooks Advanced – 2-5 p.m., June 20; OSHA Construction Safety – 5-6:30 p.m., June 21; Business of Farming: Business Operations and Human Resources for Your Agriculture Business – 6-8 p.m., June 21; Be Free from Debt’s Hold: Prepare for a Bank Business Loan – 4-6 p.m., June 26; Small Business Marketing 101 – 6-8 p.m., June 26; Marketing Basics – noon-2 p.m., June 27 and Choosing the Right Legal Structure – 6-8 p.m., June 28.

The seminars set for July are Will My Business Idea Work? – 6-8 p.m., July 5; Quality Service Interactions with Customers and Co-Workers for Small Business – 3-5 p.m., July 11; OSHA Food Industry/Restaurant Safety – 5-6:30 p.m., July 12; How to Increase Your Credit Score to Over 740 Points; Prepare for a Bank Business Loan – 4-6 p.m., July 17; Cultivo Latino (Spanish language only) – 6-8 p.m., July 19 and July 26; Increasing Your Online Presence – 3-5 p.m., July 24 and Introduction to Federal Contracting – 5-7 p.m., July 24.

August seminars are How to Build Good Bookkeeping Habits, 2-5 p.m., Aug. 1; QuickBooks Essentials – 6-9 p.m., Aug. 1; Introduction to Business Operations and Logistics – 6-9 p.m., Aug. 2; Be Free from Debt’s Hold: Prepare for a Bank Business Loan – 4-6 p.m., Aug. 7; Understanding the Numbers that Make Business Work – 6-8 p.m., Aug. 9 and Developing a Strong Business Plan – 6-8 p.m., Aug. 16.

Boots 2 Business seminars are specifically for active-duty military, military dependents and veterans. The entrepreneurial education and training program provides an overview of business ownership. Multiple in-person, two-day options are available: May 1-2, June 5-6, July 10-11 and Aug. 7-8. All are held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on the college campus.
