Hamilton, Hibbard sweep weekly conference awards

MOUNT OLIVE – The University of Mount Olive women’s lacrosse team swept the weekly league awards from the Conference Carolinas as senior Bria Hamilton was selected Offensive Player of the Week and junior Logan Hibbard earned Defensive Player of the Week.

A native of Victoria, British Columbia, Hamilton tallied 13 points after recording seven goals and six assists, as Mount Olive posted a 2-0 record and extended its winning streak to eight straight. She delivered six goals and two assists, while collecting four ground balls in an 18-8 win at Lenoir-Rhyne. Hamilton posted a career-high of four assists with one goal in a 23-3 win at Southern Wesleyan in league play. Hamilton ranks second on the team and in the top-10 in the league with 37 goals and 13 assists this season.

A junior in the midfield, Hibbard tallied four points on one goal and three assists while adding four ground balls, six draw controls and one caused turnover for the Trojans. The Rochester, N.Y. native registered a pair of assists while totaling three draw controls, two ground balls and one caused turnover in the win over Lenoir-Rhyne. Hibbard delivered one goal and one assist while collecting three draw controls and two ground balls against Southern Wesleyan.

Hamilton ranks sixth in the Conference Carolinas in total points while sitting among the top 10 in the league in goals and assists. She has scored at least three goals in six games this season while tallying a point in every contest. Hibbard ranks in the top 15 in the conference with 10 assists while sitting second on the team ground balls (22) and caused turnovers (12).
