Hammond is conference Player of the Week

MOUNT OLIVE – For a consecutive week, University of Mount Olive freshman Daniel Hammond was named the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week by the league office.

Hammond registered a 2-0 mark at No. 1 doubles last week. In the first position in doubles, Hammond and junior Guilherme Zotin de Oliveira stretched their winning streak to three straight. The duo posted a 6-4 victory over against Campbell and knocked off a nationally-ranked team against Wingate 7-5.

In singles play, Hammond picked up a straight sets victory 6-3, 6-3 over a nationally-ranked opponent from Wingate.

Hammond boasts a 5-2 record this season during the singles session with four wins in the No. 2 position. Alongside teammate de Oliveira, the duo holds a 4-2 record at No. 1 doubles.
