Mount Olive sits No. 25 in latest poll

MOUNT OLIVE – After facing three nationally-ranked opponents to begin the season, the Trojans sit No. 25 in the latest Inside Lacrosse Women/Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Top 25 poll.

The University of Mount Olive women’s lacrosse program is currently 1-2 overall after securing its first victory against No. 22 ranked Roberts Wesleyan. The Trojans hold one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country, as they still have two ranked opponents on the horizon in the next week. Mount Olive found its offensive rhythm scoring eight times in the second quarter with three players finding the back of the net multiple times in the win over Roberts Wesleyan. Graduate students Ali Davis and Meagan Maxwell tallied a combined eight goals in the win.

East Stroudsburg remained atop the national rankings, as the Warriors prepare for their season opener this weekend. Adelphi continues to sit at No. 2 but recently lost to nationally-ranked Tampa by a 14-9 margin on Tuesday. West Chester stays third, while Florida Southern remained No. 4 despite starting the season 2-0 with ranked wins on the road. Le Moyne jumped into the top five ahead of their season opener on the road at No. 11 Mercy.

The ILWomen/IWLCA Poll will be unveiled Mondays throughout the season. It is voted on jointly by coaches throughout the country and members of the media.
