MOUNT OLIVE – After tossing a no-hitter in the season-opener, University of Mount Olive junior pitcher Hannah Killough was chosen as the Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 14.
Killough posted a 2-0 record with 24 strikeouts with consecutive complete-game shutouts during the opening week of the season. She registered her third career no-hitter against Winston-Salem State on Monday after producing a school-record 15 strikeouts over six scoreless innings. The reigning Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Year, Killough faced a total of 20 batters while striking out the side three times in an 8-0 victory versus the Rams.
The following day, Killough returned to the circle and tossed another complete game shutout in a 1-0 win over Coker. She yielded just two hits and walked seven batters over seven innings while tallying nine strikeouts. Killough worked out of danger several times and stranded 10 runners on base, including five in scoring position.
