MOUNT OLIVE (Feb. 14) – The University of Mount Olive women’s track and field team swept the weekly conference accolades from the Conference Carolinas on Feb. 14, as senior Jaylin Reeves was named Track Athlete of the Week and sophomore Karla Hormazabal was picked as the Field Athlete of the Week.

A senior sprinter from Indianola, Miss., Reeves set a pair of personal records over the weekend at the Pre-National Meet, including breaking her own school record in the 200 meters. On Friday, she improved her league-qualifying mark in the 60-meter dash after crossing the line in 7.67 seconds, which now sits third in the conference this year.

The following day, Reeves eclipsed the school record in the 200 meters by three-hundredths of a second with a time of 24.92 seconds to place fourth overall in a field of over 50 athletes. She continues to hold the fastest mark in the Conference Carolinas in this event.

A sophomore from Orlando, Fla., Hormazabal competed in three events over the weekend at the Pre-National Meet and registered a personal record in the triple jump. On Saturday, she posted the second-best mark in the conference this year in the triple jump with a distance of 37 feet, 11 inches to place fifth overall. Hormazabal finished in seventh place in the high jump after clearing four feet, 11 inches. A day prior, she narrowly missed her season-best mark in the long jump with a distance of 16 feet, seven inches.
