Treser, Lahey headline All-Conference honors for UMO

MOUNT OLIVE – Senior libero Trevor Treser was named the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year, setter Jackson Lahey was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year as the Trojans featured a pair of first-team all-conference selections. In addition to Treser, senior middle blocker Pedro Gonzalez was honored on the Conference Carolinas First-Team.

Treser is the first UMO player to earn the Defensive Player of the Year award since Josh Donahue accomplished the feat in 2017. A native of Wexford, Pa., Treser garnered Conference Carolinas First-Team status for the first time in his career. He ranked third in NCAA Division II and paced the league with 3.2 digs per set while totaling double-digit digs in 16 matches this season. Treser finished the year with the second-most digs in a single season with 298 while also ranking second all-time in school history with 703 digs. In his final career match, he registered an NCAA record 32 digs in a five-set match in the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Championship. Treser was also named National Libero of the Week twice this season.

Lahey became the fourth-ever recipient from Mount Olive to earn the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year honors. A 6-foot-2 setter from Pembroke Pines, Fla., Lahey ranked seventh in the country and second in the conference with 10.27 assists per set. He guided the offense with seven assist/dig double-doubles this year while recording at least 50 assists in five matches this season. Lahey also tied the single-season school record with 1,006 assists in his first year with the program. He earned Freshman of the Month three times this year.

For the first time in his career, Gonzalez received Conference Carolinas first-team all-conference status. He ranked sixth in NCAA Division II and second in the league with a .430 hitting percentage, while totaling 214 kills in 99 sets played. Gonzalez became the third player in program history to eclipse 100 blocks in a single-season while ranking second in the Conference Carolinas.

It marks the third consecutive year the UMO men’s volleyball program has featured at least two selections on the all-conference first-team.
