Comedian headlines UMO Alumni Association fundraiser

Comedian Michael Jr. headlined a fundraising event for the University of Mount Olive Alumni Association April 1.

MOUNT OLIVE — On Saturday, April 1, the University of Mount Olive Alumni Association organized a night of laughter and entertainment as comedic thought leader Michael Jr. performed for a sold-out crowd in the Southern Bank Auditorium.

Known for his appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Comedy Central, TV One, The Late, Late Show; BET’s ComicView and Jimmy Kimmel Live, Michael Jr. brought his unique humor to the UMO campus for a special fundraising event benefiting the UMO Alumni Association.

The event commenced with an opening performance by UMO’s own a cappella group, Carolina Sound, setting the stage for the evening. UMO President Dr. H. Edward Croom and Alumni Association President Julie Graham also joined in the festivities, conducting a drawing for a raffle ticket that awarded one lucky winner a spot on the association’s upcoming trip to Iceland.

Michael Jr.’s engaging and insightful comedy routine provided both laughter and thought-provoking moments for attendees. His interactions with the audience made for some memorable and spontaneous moments, contributing to the overall success of the event.

The fundraiser not only brought together alumni, students and the local community for an entertaining evening, but also raised valuable funds for the UMO Alumni Association scholarship fund.

“The success of this event highlights our alumni’s commitment to fostering a strong community through engaging and entertaining events while also supporting our mission to provide scholarships to deserving students,” Graham said.
