Casbarro, Choboy voted D2CCA All-Region

MOUNT OLIVE – Senior Jack Casbarro and graduate student Landon Choboy were both voted to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-Southeast Region Second Team.

Casbarro received second team all-region laurels for the second time, as he was previously honored by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. The Mount Olive native closed out his senior season with a .319 batting average behind 73 hits with seven homers and 16 doubles. Casbarro ranked third in the Conference Carolinas with 72 runs scored and 31 stolen bases, while also finishing among the top-10 in the league in doubles and hits. During the postseason, he registered a .425 batting average with 17 hits, three doubles, six RBI, and 16 runs scored, as the Trojans claimed the Conference Carolinas Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

The Conference Carolinas Tournament MVP, Choboy, from Raleigh, garnered second-team all-region status after closing the year as one of the hottest hitters in NCAA Division II. He earned NCBWA National Hitter of the Week following his outstanding performance in the league tournament and carried that effort into the NCAA Southeast Regional. In nine games in the postseason, Choboy delivered a .432 batting average (16 of 37) with six homers, 25 RBI and 13 runs scored. In his first year with the program, he ranked fourth in the conference and led the team with a .384 batting average, while finishing second in the league with 69 RBI in 45 games. Choboy also paced the team with 18 multi-RBI games and totaled 20 multi-hit performances.
