North Duplin beaten in second round

CALYPSO — The North Duplin baseball team lost in the second round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state playoffs May 12 at home against Falls Lake 3-1 in nine innings.

Tanner Kornegay had two hits, Holden Williams had two hits and one stolen base, Hunt Pate had one hit, one run and was hit by a pitch; Austin Duff had one RBI and Brady Byrd had one walk.

Eric Rosas pitched 8 1/3 innings, allowed two runs, one earned and struck out 12. Esteban Santos-Clark pitched 2/3 innings and allowed one earned run.

The Rebels finished the season with a 21-4 record.
