Southern Wayne splits two on diamond

DUDLEY — The Southern Wayne baseball team won a home conference game against Smithfield-Selma 10-8 May 2 and lost a non-conference road game to Greene Central 11-1 May 3.

Against Smithfield-Selma, Tyler Odom had two hits and three runs, Ella’ Boykin had two hits, one run and two RBI; Brayden McKee had two hits, one run, one RBI and two walks; Drew Sweet had one hit, one run, two RBI, two walks and one stolen base; Jake Coates had one hit, Hayden Waller had one hit, two runs and one RBI; Tyler McKee had one RBI, Dylan Daniels had one run and one walk and Cuyler Daly had one walk.

Waller was the winning pitcher with 4 1/3 innings of work. Brayden McKee pitched 1 2/3 innings and Sweet one inning.

Against Greene Central, Daly had one hit and one run, Odom had one hit, Coates had one hit and one walk and Brayden McKee had one hit and one walk.

Jake Ferrell pitched three innings and Odom 2 2/3 innings.

The game was stopped in the bottom of the sixth by the run rule.

The Saints are 14-7 overall and 8-5 in conference games.
