Saints blast Smithfield-Selma

DUDLEY — The Southern Wayne softball team defeated Smithfield-Selma 26-1 in a home conference game May 2.

Morgan Brimberry had five hits, four runs and six RBI; Reagan Stribble had three hits, one run and three RBI; Gracie Hinson had two hits, four runs, five RBI, two walks and one stolen base; Kylie Barwick had one hit, two runs, one walk and one stolen base; Laura Summerlin had one hit, three runs and was hit by a pitch twice; Haley Wingate had one hit, one run, one RBI and was hit by a pitch; Chloe Sullivan had one hit, Jocelin Aguilar had one hit, two runs, one walk and was hit by a pitch; Avery Jennette had one run and one walk, Mckenzie Strickland had three runs, two walks, one stolen base and was hit by a pitch twice; Makayla Smith had two runs and was hit by a pitch twice, Megan Long had one run, one RBI and three walks; Alyssa Darden had one run, Jocelyn Bond had one run, two RBI, two walks and was hit by a pitch and Lacy Womble and Riley Hood each had one walk.

Stribble was the winning pitcher with 3 1/3 innings pitched. Darden pitched 2/3 of an inning.

The Saints are 9-10 overall and 7-6 in conference games.
