Burnette is Track Athlete of the Week

MOUNT OLIVE – For the third time during the outdoor season, senior Justen Burnette was selected as the Conference Carolinas Track Athlete of the Week by the league office on Tuesday morning.

A 6-foot-2 senior sprinter, Burnette claimed first place in the 200 meters after crossing the line in 20.86 seconds to improve his NCAA standard in the event while competing at The Trojan Relays. A native of Winston-Salem, he now holds the ninth-best time in NCAA Division II in the 200 meters. Burnette continues to have the fastest times in the 100m and 200m in the Conference Carolinas this outdoor season. Additionally, he placed second overall in the 100 meters with a time of 10.55 seconds on Saturday.

Mount Olive continues preparation for the Conference Carolinas Championship in two weeks in Myrtle Beach, as Burnette gets ready to defend his league title in the 100 and 200 meters.
