MOUNT OLIVE – For a fourth consecutive week, senior thrower Joshua Faison was chosen as the Conference Carolinas Field Athlete of the Week by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
A native of Clayton, Faison broke the conference and school record in the discus while also reaching an NCAA provisional standard after a toss of 56.05 meters. He placed second in a highly competitive field finishing behind Robbie Otal of Duke, who was an NCAA Division I USTFCCCA All-America recipient in the event in 2022. Faison continues to rank second in Division II in the discus and became just the second student-athlete to exceed 56 meters this season. He is the only thrower in the Southeast Region to hit an NCAA mark in the event this season.
Faison has earned the weekly league award a combined seven times between the indoor and outdoor season, including five times during the outdoor campaign.
