Faison shatters conference record at Duke Invitational

DURHAM – Senior thrower Joshua Faison reset his own Conference Carolinas outdoor record in the discus throw while placing second overall in the event, as the Trojans competed on day one of the Duke Invitational April 6.

Faison broke the league and school record while reaching an NCAA provisional standard in the discus after a toss of 56.05 meters. He placed second in a highly competitive field finishing behind Robbie Otal of Duke, who was a USTFCCCA All-America recipient in the event in 2022. Faison is the two-time defending conference champion in the discus and shot put during the outdoor season.

A native of Clayton, North Carolina, Faison continues to rank second in Division II in the discus and became just the second student-athlete to exceed 56.00 meters this season. He is the only thrower in the Southeast Region to hit an NCAA mark in the discus this year.
