North Duplin softball team defeats Jones

CALYPSO — The North Duplin softball team defeated Jones County 7-2 in a non-conference home game April 3 to improve to 9-1 on the season. The Rebels are 3-0 in conference play.

Lilly Fulghum homered and was the winning pitcher. Addy Higginbotham had two hits, Fulghum had two hits, two runs, two RBI and one stolen base; Reece Outlaw had one hit, one run and two RBI, Kasey Jones had one hit and one run, Iala Overton had one hit, two runs, one RBI and one walk; Riley Hatch had one hit, M’chelle Jaco had one hit and one run and Sara Thomas Tucker had one walk and one stolen base.

Statistics were also posted for three other games. Against Rosewood March 30 in a 14-3 win, Jones had three hits, three runs and two RBI; Higginbotham had two hits including a home run, two runs and four RBI, Tucker had two hits, three runs, one walk and three stolen bases; Fulghum had two hits including a home run, one run and one RBI; Overton had one hit, two runs, two RBI and one walk; Outlaw had one hit, one run, one walk and one stolen base; Jaco had one run, one stolen base and was hit by a pitch and Adashia Bernal had one run. Fulghum was the winning pitcher, going 4 2/3 innings. Ady Spence pitched 2/3 of an inning.

Against Union March 28 in an 18-1 win, Higginbotham had four hits including two home runs, four runs and two RBI; Fulgham had three hits, four runs, five RBI and one stolen base; Outlaw had two hits, three runs, one stolen base and was hit by a pitch; Jones had one hit, one run and one RBI; Hatch had one hit, one run, two RBI and one stolen base; Tucker had one hit, two runs, one walk and two stolen bases and Overton had three runs, there walks and two stolen bases.

Against Lakewood March 23 in an 18-4 win, Higginbotham had three hits, three runs and one RBI, Overton had three hits, three runs and two RBI; Outlaw had two hits, both home runs, three runs, three RBI and a walk; Dana Santibaneez had two hits, two runs and two RBI; Bernal had two hits, one run and one walk; Fulgham had one hit, one run and two RBI; Tucker had one hit and one RBI, Jones had one run and one walk, Hatch had two runs and Spence had two runs and one RBI. Spence was the winning pitcher.
