MOUNT OLIVE – For the second time this season, University of Mount Olive goalkeeper Claire Hagen has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week.
A senior from Prior Lake, Minn., Hagen collected a pair of wins and totaled 20 saves during the week of March 20. In a non-conference win over Lander, Hagen tallied 11 saves on 30 shots faced with six ground balls in a 16-11 win. In a 20-6 victory at rival Barton, Hagen produced nine saves on 21 shots faced against the Bulldogs with two ground balls. Hagen is second in Conference Carolinas in goals against average (9.51) and save percentage (.518).
This season, Hagen boasts a 5-2 record with 58 saves between the posts while starting the previous seven matches. She has tallied double-digit saves in three games and paces the team with 20 ground balls.
