MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – On the final day of the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational, the University of Mount Olive women’s track & field team set seven Conference Carolinas qualifying marks on March 18.

Sophomore Karla Hormazabal placed third overall in the high jump after clearing a height of 1.53 meters to exceed the league qualifying standard. Her mark is the eighth-best all-time mark in UMO history in the event and ranks sixth in the conference through the opening two meets of the outdoor season.

In the 400 meters, three Trojan athletes set conference championship times, which all sit in the top five on the league qualifying list. Sophomore Vinesha Briggs finished seventh overall after crossing the line in 58.49 seconds, the 10th-fastest time in program history. Senior Jaiden Moody placed eighth in the field of nearly 40 runners with a time of 58.60, while freshman Channie Jefferson registered a time of 58.67 in the event.

Senior Mary Brigid Keck and freshman Ashley Lindsey each accomplished conference standards in the discus. Keck recorded a sixth-place finish with a toss of 37.81 meters, which ranks third in the Conference Carolinas this year. Lindsey also placed among the top 10 with a distance of 36.40 meters.
