Goodman, Marto sweep conference laurels

MOUNT OLIVE – The University of Mount Olive men’s lacrosse team swept the weekly league accolades from the Conference Carolinas on March 13, as senior Chaz Goodman was selected Offensive Player of the Week and graduate student Mike Marto was named Defensive Player of the Week.

A senior in the midfield from Odenton, Md., Goodman posted another impressive performance after totaling six points on four goals and two assists at Flagler. He contributed a pair of assists and a goal in the first half before scoring three times in the second half. He currently ranks among the top 10 in the conference in both goals (10) and assists (7) this season.

A graduate student face-off specialist from Saddle Brook, N.J., Marto tied a game-high with seven ground balls while going 20 of 29 on face-offs against the Saints. It marked a season-high for ground balls for Marto and the second game this season he has won over 20 face-offs. Marto ranks first in the Conference Carolinas with a .631 (99-of-157) face-off percentage.
