Johnson is Field Athlete of the Week

MOUNT OLIVE – After a record-setting weekend, junior Kamden Johnson was chosen as the Conference Carolinas Field Athlete of the Week by the league office on Feb. 7.

A native of Rocky Mount, Johnson had a stellar weekend after recording a pair of NCAA provisional marks and eclipsing the school record in the long jump at the South Carolina Invitational. On Friday, he shattered the UMO record in the long jump with a distance of 23 feet, 11 inches on his second attempt to finish runner-up in the event. His mark in the long jump catapulted him to the top spot in the Southeast Region in the event.

Johnson claimed victory in the high jump after clearing six feet, eight inches to hit another NCAA standard. He currently sits in a tie for the top position in the region in the event after setting the mark of six feet, nine inches earlier this season.

The Trojans have now earned the Field Athlete of the Week honor three times during the indoor season with Johnson claiming the accolade for the first time this season.
