Arts Council of Wayne County names interim director

Jack Kannan is the new interim executive director of the Arts Council of Wayne County.

GOLDSBORO — The Arts Council of Wayne County has announced the appointment of Jack Kannan as its interim executive director.

Kannan is well known in the community, having been a successful executive director of multiple other non-profit organizations. He brings to the role successes with major gift campaigns, community engagement and staff development. He will assume this responsibility effective immediately as he works to bring stability to the operations and funding model of the arts council.

Kannan is a veteran of the United States Army and has 20 years of experience in human resources. He is a champion of the non-profit community. While serving on the Wayne Community College Board of Trustees, he was instrumental in the creation of the Foundation of Wayne Community College. He was later appointed to the executive director role for that foundation where he worked to develop its mission, fundraising and staff.

Most recently, Kannan was the founding executive director of the Wayne Memorial Hospital Foundation, where he set the mission and focus for that organization to become a major contributor to the medical community supported by Wayne Memorial Hospital.

In addition, the arts council will be signing a contract for a new location in the near future and is looking forward to the new opportunities that the space will create for the arts in the area. The council will continue to host popup events around Wayne County to better serve the community.
