Ramirez is conference Wrestler of the Week

MOUNT OLIVE – Behind a 2-0 mark in dual meet action this weekend, redshirt senior Nico Ramirez was named the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Wrestler of the Week as announced by the league office on Dec. 13.

Competing at heavyweight, Ramirez posted a pair of wins at the Trojan Duals on Dec. 11. He sealed a team victory via fall at 285 to secure a 29-17 win over Emmanuel in conference action. Ramirez finished off the day with another win by fall in the first period against Greensboro in a 41-12 dual meet win.

Ramirez joined the Trojans as a transfer from Southern Virginia University, where he was a three-time NCAA Division III All-American and four-time NCAA qualifier. He holds a 4-6 record this season with all victories coming by fall. Ramirez also ranked fourth in Super Region II in the 285 weight class after the initial rankings were released on Nov. 30.
