UMO suffers loss at Presbyterian

CLINTON, S.C. – Facing a nationally-ranked opponent on Sunday afternoon, the Trojans fell by a 37-10 margin at No. 6 Presbyterian in a non-conference dual meet on Dec. 4.

With the loss, the University of Mount Olive women’s wrestling team dropped to 2-1 this season in dual meets after facing its first ranked opponent in program history. Meanwhile, the Blue Hose improved to 2-1 overall and feature four wrestlers in the individual national rankings.

The dual meet featured six head-to-head matches with Presbyterian receiving two wins via forfeit in the 109 and 136 weight classes, while UMO collected a forfeit at 191.

The Blue Hose claimed victories in the opening four matches after registering two wins by fall at 101 and 123 while claiming a 10-0 technical fall in the 116 weight class. Presbyterian also collected a victory via forfeit at 109 to hold a 19-0 lead.

Freshman Isabel Rodriguez remained undefeated and improved to 6-0 after posting a win by fall in the 130 weight class over Olivia Waller on Saturday to trim the deficit to 19-5.

At 136, the Blue Hose recorded a win by forfeit before notching three more victories, including a pair of technical falls to hold a 37-5 advantage. Freshman Jada Arnold finished the event receiving a win via forfeit in the 191 weight class.
