WCC’s The Art of Science

Apr 22, 2023 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

WCC’s The Art of Science is a free carnival-style, walk-through celebration of STEAM: science, technology, engineering, art and math. It will take place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Earth Day, April 22, 2023. It is open to the whole family and no pre-registration is required. Approximately 20 stations will introduce attendees to a variety of short, hands-on experiments and interactive displays about biodiversity, biotechnology, plants, density and more. Each station will have both STEM and art connections. Most stations will be located indoors, in the Wayne Learning Center. A few activities are better suited to the outdoors and will take place outside near WLC. Activities are geared toward elementary-age children, but everyone is welcome. Some activities include viewing and photographing microscopic organisms, constructing a virus model, creating artwork using pipettes, making leaf rubbings, crafting a Venus flytrap puppet, assembling density towers, building rockets, contributing to a fingerprint mural and so much more. Children can take home all of their creations as a reminder of this STEAM event. This is event is part of the North Carolina Science Festival, and the official expo page can be found here: https://ncsciencefestival.org/events/wcc%E2%80%99s-art-science
