The Mount Olive Community Juneteenth Celebration will be held Sunday, June 18 from 2-6 p.m. at Westbrook Park, 210 Westbrook St. in Mount Olive. The theme is “Honoring the Past While Building for the Future.” The featured guest will be Ayinde Hurrey, a performing artist, musician, storyteller and theatrical director from Durham. Other guests will include Souls of Joy, Carolina Old Miss Pageant contestants and dancers Natalie and Jimmy Jones and Iris Jackson. The celebration will also include extreme hip hop exercisers, the Mt. Olive Pickle Train, an auto show, an art show, community booths and more. The event is sponsored by the Mt. Olive Chapter of the Carver Alumni & Friends Association.
