Mount Olive’s Lahey earns conference honor

GREENVILLE, S.C. — After opening with a 2-0 record in conference play, University of Mount Olive sophomore setter Jackson Lahey was named the Conference Carolinas Specialist of the Week, which was released by the league office on Monday afternoon.
A native of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Lahey averaged 10.71 assists, 1.43 digs, and 1.14 blocks per set, as Mount Olive collected two conference victories on the road. On Friday night, he directed the offense with 36 assists while totaling two kills, two aces, six digs, and five blocks in a 3-1 victory at King. The next day, Lahey guided the Trojan attack with 39 assists, four digs, and three blocks in a 3-0 sweep over Lees-McRae on the road.
Lahey currently ranks among the top 20 in NCAA Division I with 9.24 assists per set. He is the reigning Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year after tying the single-season record with 1,006 assists in 28 matches played.
The Trojans return to the court on Friday, Feb. 16, when they travel to face North Greenville in conference action, starting at 7 p.m
