Mount Olive freshman track athlete earns Conference Carolinas honor

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Following a record-breaking performance in the season opener, University of Mount Olive freshman Ryan Wilson-McCoy was named the Conference Carolinas December Freshman of the Month for men’s track & field on Friday.

A native from Bealeton, Virginia, Wilson-McCoy made a stellar debut for the Trojans at the Visit Winston-Salem Kick-off on Dec. 2. He set an NCAA Provisional standard and a new school record with a distance of 14.61 meters (47-11.25 feet) in the triple jump on his final attempt to place second overall.

Wilson-McCoy is currently tied for 13th in the triple jump in NCAA Division II and is one of two athletes to hit the NCAA standard in the Southeast Region.

Mount Olive returns to action on Friday, January 12, at The Burg Open in Lynchburg, Virginia.
