WCC President Patty Pfeiffer spoke about how vital healthcare workers are in caring for those with sicknesses and chronic illnesses.

“Today your career goals and dreams of entering the healthcare field have come to a conclusion,” Pfeiffer told the graduates. “A pinning ceremony is a very symbolic ceremony that dates back to the Crusades of the 12th century. It is a moment of pride and honor.”

WCC Vice President of Workforce Continuing Education Services and Community Engagement Renita Dawson told the graduates’ family members in attendance that it is “a wonderful Christmas gift” for their loved ones to reach this milestone.

Nurse Aide I graduates are eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program exam necessary for certification and listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry.

After one year of work experience, Dialysis Technician graduates are eligible for national certification as clinical hemodialysis technicians.

The Phlebotomy program prepares graduates for the National Phlebotomy Certification Examination offered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
