Wayne Community College ranks high on lists of best community colleges

GOLDSBORO – Niche, an online platform that connects students and families with colleges and schools, has ranked Wayne Community College at No. 2 on its 2024 Best Community Colleges in North Carolina list.

“Wayne Community College is committed to providing high-quality educational opportunities and a supportive environment for our students. Being recognized for this commitment and for being one of the best community colleges in North Carolina by Niche is an honor,” said WCC President Patty Pfeiffer.

WCC’s sister community colleges that earned slots in the top five are Randolph Community College (first), Blue Ridge Community College (third), Stanly Community College (fourth), and Craven Community College (fifth).

WCC’s spot at No. 2 on the state ranking positions the College at No. 37 on Niche’s 2024 Best Community Colleges in America ranking.

The rankings are based on analysis of academic, admissions, financial, and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education and other sources along with reviews and ratings from students and alumni. This year the rankings used updated methodology to better evaluate economic mobility.

“Choosing where to go to college is easily one of the most significant – and expensive – decisions of a person’s life. Niche’s mission is to ensure that every college-bound student has access to easy, transparent and free resources … to help them find their best fit,” said Niche Founder and Chief Executive Officer Luke Skurman.

Earlier in the year, WCC also ranked second in two other Best Community Colleges in North Carolina lists: one from BestColleges.com and another from Intelligent.com.
