Mount Olive earns USTFCCCA academic laurels

MOUNT OLIVE – The University of Mount Olive women’s track & field program was named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association All-Academic Team for the fifth straight season on Thursday afternoon.

Additionally, the Trojans had six student-athletes earn individual USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic award, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in indoor or outdoor seasons. Rising senior Danielle Trimbur garnered the accolade for a third consecutive year, while teammates Mary Brigid Keck and Jaiden Moody collected the honor for the second time in their careers. Rising junior Vinesha Briggs, rising junior Karla Hormazabal and recent graduate Mora Smith each earned the award for the first time at Mount Olive. The UMO women’s track & field program featured the most recipients of any team in the Conference Carolinas.

The Trojans were one of 219 programs recognized by the USTFCCCA as an All-Academic Team. In order to receive All-Academic Team status, a program must obtain a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher. A total of four Conference Carolinas women’s track & field programs received the honor.
