WCC ranks well on nationwide list

GOLDSBORO — Wayne Community College has placed well in a nationwide community colleges list.

Niche, an online platform that connects students and families with colleges and schools, ranked Wayne Community College at No. 50 on its 2023 Best Community Colleges list. It reviewed 906 public junior colleges, public technical schools, and public two-year colleges nationwide to determine each institution’s return on investment.

WCC’s sister North Carolina community colleges that earned slots in the top 100 of the list are Craven Community College (ninth), Southwestern Community College (41st), Sandhills Community College (55th), Blue Ridge Community College (72nd) and Stanly Community College (87th).

The rankings are based on analysis of academic, admissions, financial and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education and other sources along with reviews and ratings from students and alumni.

Niche gave WCC an overall grade of B+. That grade was calculated from individual grades assigned for academics, value, professors, campus, diversity, student life, overall experience, local area and safety.

“We know that choosing where to go to college is a major life decision, and we’ve always been committed to helping students and their families make their choice with as much information as possible,” said Niche Founder and Chief Executive Officer Luke Skurman.

“With a mix of comprehensive data and millions of reviews, our 2023 Best Colleges rankings are a guide to the thousands of excellent institutions across the country. We’re proud to continue to support students and families throughout the college admissions process, from research all the way to enrollment,” Skurman said.
