Urban receives conference Elite 23 Award

MOUNT OLIVE – University of Mount Olive senior midfielder Chance Urban received the Conference Carolinas Elite 23 Award for a third-straight year at the Conference Carolinas Men’s Lacrosse Championship, which was hosted at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.

Urban currently boasts a 3.991 cumulative grade-point-average while pursuing a degree in accounting.

A native of Abingdon, Md., Urban became the first three-time recipient of the accolade in men’s lacrosse since the inception of the award during the 2018-19 academic year. The Trojans have garnered the honor 14 times since the award was initiated, including three student-athletes that earned the laurel multiple times. In 15 games played with eight starts this season, Urban recorded 15 points on 10 goals and five assists, while collecting 12 ground balls.

The Elite 23 Award is modeled after the NCAA’s Elite 90 Award and honors the student-athlete with the top GPA that is competing at the championship site. The selection criteria for the Elite 23 is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 90 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship final sites of the 90 championships across all three divisions – I, II, and III.
