North Duplin sweeps Union
CALYPSO — The North Duplin baseball team swept a doubleheader from Union April 20 by scores of 13-3 and 16-0. Both games were shortened from the scheduled five innings by the run rule. The 13-3 win lasted three innings and the 16-0 win lasted two innings.
In the 13-3 win, Branden Reyna had one hit, one run and one RBI; Austin Duff had one hit, one run, three RBI and one stolen base; Hunt Pate had two runs, one walk and one stolen base; Brady Byrd had one hit, two runs, one RBI and three stolen bases; Wesley Holmes had one hit, two RBI, one walk and two stolen bases; Garris Warren had two runs, two walks and three stolen bases; Billy McCoy had one hit, one run, one walk and one stolen base; Esteban Santos-Clark had one run, one stolen base and was hit by a pitch and Tanner Kornegay had three runs, three walks and four stolen bases.
Kornegay pitched all three innings and allowed no earned runs.
In the 16-0 win, Reyna had two hits and two runs, Kornegay had one run, one walk and one stolen base; Richard Noble had three hits, two runs and three RBI; Duff had one hit, one run, two RBI and was hit by a pitch; Pate had one hit, two runs, one RBI, one walk and three stolen bases; Holmes had one hit, one run, one RBI and two stolen bases; Warren had one RBI, Tyler Johnsey had one hit, one run and one RBI; Kayden Bowden had one run and one stolen base, McCoy had one RBI, Thomas Moorsiey had one hit, one run and one RBI; Santos-Clark had one hit, two runs, one walk and two stolen bases and Dante Sabeniteze had one hit and one run.
Pate pitched both innings.
The Rebels are 17-2 overall and 8-0 in conference games.
