Voloshyna is conference Tennis Athlete of the Week

MOUNT OLIVE – After a pair of critical conference wins, University of Mount Olive senior Liza Voloshyna was picked as the Conference Carolinas Athlete of the Week for women’s tennis.

A 5-foot-2 senior from Kherson, Ukraine, Voloshyna registered a pair of victories as the Trojans upset No. 33 Erskine by a 4-3 margin to remain undefeated in conference play.

At No. 1 doubles, she teamed up with Nele Weber to secure a 6-3 victory over Emma Bentz and Luize Valtere. Later in the day, she captured a straight-set 6-1, 6-1 win against Ariana Jativa in the second position in singles play.

Voloshyha and the Trojans remain in the ITA Weekly Rankings at No. 42 overall as a team. In doubles play, she and Weber boast a 12-3 overall record while holding a 3-1 mark in conference play. Mount Olive also appeared in the initial NCAA Division II Southeast Regional rankings.
