Reeves, Keck sweep women’s track honors

MOUNT OLIVE – The University of Mount Olive women’s track & field team swept the outdoor weekly accolades from the Conference Carolinas on Tuesday, as senior Jaylin Reeves was selected Track Athlete of the Week and senior Mary Brigid Keck was named Field Athlete of the Week.

A senior sprinter from Indianola, Miss., Reeves registered a pair of NCAA provisional standards in the 100 and 200 meters. She set the top time in Conference Carolinas in the 100m with a mark of 11.83 seconds in the preliminaries. In the 200m, Reeves claimed first place in the event after crossing the line in 24.17 seconds, which ranks second in the conference. She currently holds the third-fastest time in both events in the Southeast Region and is ranked eighth in NCAA Division II in the 200m and is 17th in the 100m.

A native of Newark, Ohio, Keck set a conference and school record in the hammer throw with a mark of 58.08 meters to place second overall while hitting an NCAA standard. She eclipsed the previous league mark held by former teammate Candy Lockett, who set the record in 2022. Additionally, she improved her conference standard in the discus with a toss of 41.42m to place third, while hitting the qualifying mark and placing second in the shot put with a distance of 12.40m. She leads the conference in all three events, is first in the Southeast Region and is fifth in Division II in the hammer throw, is second in the region and 35th in the nation in the discus and ranks fourth regionally in the shot put.

Keck has received the weekly league award a combined four times between the indoor and outdoor season, while Reeves has earned the honor two times.
