North Duplin girls’ softball wins

CALYPSO — The North Duplin girls’ softball team defeated Lakewood 18-4 March 23 to move to 6-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.

On March 21, the Rebels defeated East Duplin 8-0. Lilly Fulghum had three hits, two runs and two RBI, Addy Higginbotham had two hits, one run and one RBI; Iala Overton had two hits, two runs scored and one RBI; Sara Thomas Tucker had two hits, one run scored and was hit by a pitch; Reece Outlaw had one hit, two runs scored, one walk and reached on an error; Kasey Jones had one hit, Ady Spence had one hit and M’chelle Jaco had one hit and one walk.

Fulghum was the winning pitcher with a seven-inning complete game shutout. She allowed two hits, struck out four and walked three.
