4×400 relay team competes at NCAA Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The University of Mount Olive women’s track & field 4×400 relay team participated at the 2023 Indoor NCAA Championships, hosted at the Virginia Beach Sports Center on March 11.

The relay team featured sophomore Vinesha Briggs, senior Jaiden Moody, freshman Channie Jefferson and senior Jaylin Reeves, as the Trojans nationally qualified in the event for the first time in program history. Mount Olive placed third in its heat and finished 15th overall in the finals with a time of 3 minutes, 52.92 seconds. The top eight times earned First-Team All-American status, while the ninth and 10th place teams garnered Second-Team All-American honors.

Northwest Missouri set a Division II all-time mark, facility and meet record, following a blistering pace of 3:36.76 to win the national championship.

The four-member relay team concluded a successful indoor season for Mount Olive after establishing a new conference record in the event in late February with a time of 3:46.25 to shatter a mark that was held since 2017. The Trojans turn their focus to the outdoor season as they prepare to defend their conference championships.
