WCC program topic of conference session

GOLDSBORO — Wayne Community College’s Achievement Coach program will be the subject of a session at a national conference.

“The Evolution and Early Successes of the Wayne Community College Coaching, Advising and Planning for Success Project” will be presented at the 20th Annual Association for the Coaching and Tutoring Profession Conference.

The Achievement Coach program is a component of the college’s Coaching, Advising, and Planning for Success project. CAPS was made possible by a U.S. Department of Education Title III Part A Strengthening Institutions Program grant received in 2018.

Dr. Tammy Bishop, WCC Academic Foundations Department chair, and Dr. Patrick Saxon,  director of the Sam Houston State University Doctoral Program for Developmental Education Administration and the external evaluator for WCC’s Title III project, will be the presenters at the March 20 session in Las Vegas.

Their talk will cover the progression of the Achievement Coach program during a high-growth phase. The program is a result of an institutional self-study that identified advising as a challenge to student success.
