Southern Wayne wins baseball opener

DUDLEY — The Southern Wayne baseball team opened its season Feb. 28 with a 10-5 win over South Lenoir.

Alex Ferrell had two hits, an RBI and two stolen bases, Brayden McKee had one hit and two RBI, Cuyler Daly, Drew Sweet, Braxton Toler and Hayden Waller each had one hit and one RBI; Ella’ Boykin had one hit and Tyler Odom had one RBI.

Sweet was the winning pitcher, going 5 2/3 innings and Waller finished the game with 1 1/3 innings.
