Trojans fall in league play versus King

MOUNT OLIVE – The Trojans were unable to overcome early deficits in all three sets in a 3-0 loss against King on Feb. 24 in Conference Carolinas action at Kornegay Arena by scores of 25-19, 25-23, 27-25.

With the loss, the University of Mount Olive men’s volleyball team dropped to 5-9 overall with a 1-5 mark in conference play. Meanwhile, King improved to 9-11 this season with a 4-2 record in league action.

Sophomore Tate Sandvig finished with a team-high eight kills while adding seven digs. Junior Tom Klotzbuecher tallied six kills with three digs, while freshman Kory Grant and junior Justin Gregory produced five kills. Freshman Jackson Lahey had 16 assists and junior Jack Yerxa had 11 assists.

Senior Trevor Treser led the defensive effort with nine digs and Sandvig totaled seven. At the net, freshman Constantinos Iacovou recorded three blocks (all assisted), while Gregory delivered two blocks.
