Faison wins the shot put at Pre-National Meet

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Senior Joshua Faison claimed his third victory of the indoor season on Feb. 10 in the shot put on day one of competition at the Pre-National Meet.

Faison dominated the field in the shot put following a toss of 53 feet, 11 inches to secure the victory. It marks his third win of the 2022-23 indoor campaign in the event while he continues to hold the top distance in the Conference Carolinas. In his final preparation for the league championship, Faison will look to pull off the three-peat in late February.

In the long jump, the Trojans featured a pair of new qualifiers and an improvement in conference standards. Sophomore Jaleal Hamlett posted a season-best mark of 21 feet, seven inches, while freshman Josh Manning produced a personal record with the same distance to qualify for the conference championships in the long jump. Sophomore Jeremiah Kimbrough also hit the league mark for the first time after delivering a distance of 21 feet, four inches.
