UMO women’s lacrosse ranked No. 23

MOUNT OLIVE – Following their second straight conference championship, the Trojans were ranked No. 23 in the preseason Inside Lacrosse Women Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association preseason Top 25 poll on Jan. 30.

The University of Mount Olive women’s lacrosse team is featured in the national preseason rankings for a fourth consecutive year. Last season, the Trojans posted a 14-5 record with a perfect 9-0 mark in league action. UMO returns nine All-Conference Carolinas selections, including four first-team recipients, under third year head coach Heather Coppola. Mount Olive was the lone Conference Carolinas program to be highlighted in the poll.

National runner-up East Stroudsburg received 19 of 25 first-place votes in the poll and returns three All-American selections to the lineup after posting a 20-2 record in 2022. Adelphi earned one first-place nod and was positioned second in the rankings following a trip to the national semifinals. West Chester was picked third in the poll after a fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, while Florida Southern and Grand Valley rounded out the top five.

The ILWomen/IWLCA Poll will be unveiled Mondays throughout the season beginning Monday, Feb. 20. It is voted on jointly by coaches throughout the country and members of the media.
