Board of Education seeks input on superintendent search

GOLDSBORO — The Wayne County Board of Education, with the support of Ray & Associates Inc., is seeking input from interested students, parents, other members of the community and staff to help shape the search process and to assist in defining the qualities and characteristics desired in the next WCPS superintendent.

The board invites students, parents, staff and other members of the community to participate in a community survey that can be accessed and completed online by clicking the superintendent search survey link on the main WCPS webpage: Community & Staff Survey – English Community & Staff Survey – Spanish Community & Staff Survey – Haitian Creole.

All surveys must be completed by Sunday, Feb. 26. Results will be compiled, summarized and presented by Ray & Associates Inc. at the regularly scheduled board meeting on Monday, March 6.

D. Wade Leatham, board chair, said that the Wayne County Board of Education is committed to ensuring community input is an essential part of its search process. “The search for a superintendent is one of the most important responsibilities of a board of education,” Leatham said. “One of the reasons our board selected Ray & Associates is because they demonstrated the importance of community engagement in this process. We deeply value the feedback from those we serve and look forward to using the survey results and other community engagement opportunities in a meaningful way to help shape the search for our district’s next leader.”

In addition to the community and staff surveys, Ray & Associates Inc. will facilitate constituent and stakeholder group meetings in February as part of the search process.
