Brown is Conference Carolinas Player of the Week

MOUNT OLIVE – After averaging 24.3 points, 8.3 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game, senior guard Michael Brown was selected the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week by the league office on Jan. 23.

A 5-foot-10 guard from Winchester, Va., Brown converted 26 of 41 (63.4 percent) from the field, including 60.0 percent (12 of 20) from beyond the arc, as the Trojans went 3-0 in league play last week. Brown posted a double-double after tallying a career-high 14 assists while scoring 18 points on six of 12 from the field with four rebounds in a 90-88 win over Converse. He followed up with a 23-point performance on nine of 13 attempts, including five three-pointers, while adding nine assists and two rebounds in a 95-88 victory against Francis Marion. Brown closed the week with 32 points on 11 of 16 shooting, including five of nine from three-point range in a 92-90 overtime win at Southern Wesleyan. He added seven rebounds, two assists and two steals against the Warriors.

Brown ranks seventh in NCAA Division II with 122 assists while sitting in the top 15 in the nation with 21.9 points per game. He has 13 games with at least 20 points, including three 30-point performances this season. Brown has achieved several career milestones this year, including scoring 1,000 career points and dishing out 500 career assists at Mount Olive.
