Lottery application period open for innovative schools

GOLDSBORO — Wayne County Public Schools has launched its 2023-2024 lottery application period for its three innovative schools.

The lottery is open for current fifth grade students interested in attending Wayne School of Engineering and Wayne School of Technical Arts beginning next fall. It is also open for current eighth grade students interested in attending Wayne Early/Middle College High School and Wayne School of Technical Arts beginning next fall.

The lottery application deadline is Friday, March 10, at 5 p.m. Interested students and families can learn more about the lottery and access important links and downloadable materials at www.waynecountyschools.org/lottery.aspx. There are also a number of ways they can learn more about each school.

Information about each school, as well as how to connect to their school websites, is available at www.waynecountyschools.org/InnovativeHighSchools.aspx. Students and families can also access information being communicated by each school via social media by going to @WayneEMCHS  (Twitter), @WayneSchoolTA (Twitter) and @WSETitans (Facebook).

Wayne Early/Middle College High School and Wayne School of Technical Arts plan to hold information nights for interested students and families. On Jan. 24 and Feb. 13, WEMCHS will hold information nights for parents and eighth grade students at 6 p.m. in the Moffat Auditorium at Wayne Community College. On Jan. 31, WSTA will hold an information night for parents and fifth grade and eighth grade students at 6 p.m. at Meadow Lane Elementary in the cafeteria. Wayne School of Engineering will offer individual tours or provide information for interested parents and rising sixth grade students. They simply need to contact the school at 919-734-0070.
