Southern Wayne girls defeat Smithfield-Selma

SMITHFIELD — The Southern Wayne girls’ basketball team went on the road Jan. 10 and defeated Smithfield-Selma 43-6. The Saints held Smithfield-Selma scoreless for the first three quarters.
Jamaika Bass led Southern Wayne with 14 points, Elaina Lane had eight, Neveah Hines-Bass had seven, Nygeria Thompson five, Kyren Strong three and Amya Smith, Ta’Niyah Glaspie and D’Azia Smith had two each.
Thompson led Southern Wayne with four rebounds, Hines-Bass had a team-high three assists and Glaspie led the defensive effort with six steals.
The Saints improved to 10-3 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
